RE: This thread.
Yesterday I mentioned how there was very little warning, or rather, not as much warning as there could have been, about the extended downtime yesterday.
Now to today. I've literally just started EVE thinking 'ooh, I know it's quarter to 12, but it might already be up'. Far from it, I'm told by my login screen that downtime is extended to ruddy TWO O CLOCK - AGAIN! And I have another bleeding skill to change at about 1pm, just after which I have to go to work, which means I still won't be able to change the skill when the server does come up. I won't be back from work until 1AM - 11 HOURS after the server is due to come up, and a full 12 hours after my skill stopped training.
This is wasting time, time that I am paying for. At the moment I'm so busy that I don't have room in my day to play EVE for any length at all really, so at the moment, the only thing I can do is pop online to change my skills - except I can't do that either.
Yesterday's DT I can understand, and I'll just let that slide into unimportance, but today I'm just a bit frustrated. grr.

I am quite clearly not demanding tons of money back or saying which should shut down CCP. My OP is an expression of frustration at something that could have been avoided.

Perhaps it could have been made right in the first place? Apparently patch day was to fix one tiny weeney little problem that affected a small percentage of the population. Now it's screwed us all up.

If it would work, it'd be worth a try :-P In fact, yes, it would work - the money I get back from CCP would allow me to take some more time off work which means I'll be more able to spend time in the EVE-world and I'll see these downtimes coming which means I won't get this problem! Hurrah!

There's still no Mac client stability fix in this patch. How's that? :p
That's whine worthy. Moaning about an extra extended DT to correct something is not.
Read my words again. I am not moaning about the downtime - I'm frustrated that we don't seem to be getting any kind of obvious warnings that stop us from getting stuck with skill changes (re: that thread I linked to)

No, don't be stupid. That's not really a constructive comment.

That's an incorrect accusation, and tbh a bit immature and uncalled for.
Originally by: TheJacko you would of realised by now that ccp allways like to do more than 1 patch after a patch deployed :) allways set a long skill at dt :)
I don't tend to assume I'm always going to be recieving a rubbish service wherever I go or whatever I do.

Only the MOTD, news item, and forum thread. Maybe they should have invented telepathy and beamed it into your head....
Once again, I point in the direction of the thread that this thread is based on: Linkage There are others that see my point - you gonna insult them too?

Besides, it's what? 12 hours? That's nothing.
I needed a particular skill to finish training (which very soon, it will have) to then train another one to level 1, so that as soon as I can I can attach a module to do a certain something as soon as possible whenever I get back from work later on.

Originally by: Kedan Denning I agree, i was lucky enough to have seen this on the forum last night, but an in-game announcement would have been nice, just to let everyone know
Originally by: Jonny MoJo Op is corret. CCP never told us much about DT.
Solution is simple - add in a skill queue which can hold a maximum of 1 skill, so it cannot be abused. Problem solved.
Ah good, the cavalry. I thought I was the only one fighting this fight for a while there. I'm glad I'm not the only one.

Yes, you and the 50.000 other people who would follow in your footsteps (precedence). That would decrease income to CCP, meaning they would have to fire a dev or 2. So some more fixes would go wrong and this time it would take 3 hours to fix instead of 2.. And there you go sueing them again until they have to sell CCP to EA or close it all togeather. Yes, a very good way to fix things.
Oh come on, I was obviously joking, sheesh.

Don't even say things like that! I'll have nightmares now...

My God, you're right. I bet nobody else in CCP or on the forums has thought of that.
The only way to avoid patch day woes is to scan the news regularly. CCP often think nothing of giving around 5 or 6 day's notice of a patch. Then plan accordingly. Even minor patches sometimes cause snafus that take several days to clear. When they say train a long skill, they don't mean something that takes a day. They mean Racial Battleship V.
Yes, it's not very professional. But that's CCP for you. If you don't like it, you're going to have to find another game. Because they've been like this for years and show no sign of changing.
ROFL. Your post agrees with me that the situation is pants, but also informs me that I should open my eyes a bit, which is true.
Can't they use the test server to TEST things before adding them to the real server?
